Success with Dragon!
It has worked!!!!
I have been training my baby bearie since he came home about 2 months ago. My biggest challenge has been to get him to drink out of a water bowl. I have been using one of the drip systems (just a cup with little nozzle on the bottom so you can regulate the flow of water) on the top of the cage, letting the droplets of water fall into the water bowl. Everytime I have done this he just stares at the water going "splash splash splash" untill today. He did the up down look once, trotted to the bowl, and took a BIG gulp! Yipppeeee!!! |

Congrats! My original Bearded Dragon started drinking out of a bowl on her own when she was small, when I moved her to a bigger enclosure she stopped drinking out of the bowl....so don't be surprised if this happens.

drinking out of the bowl is a "trick" that my male has done ever since I got him, but don't rely on just the bowl of water to keep your beardy hydrated, because normally its not enough.
things I do to keep my Bearded Dragons well hydrated mist them on a daily basis, including while feedding soaking thier veggies in water putting them in a tub of warm water every other day(they alot of times will drink when this happens) lol hope this helps

I dont keep water bowls in my adult tanks, they get bi-weekly baths.. All they do is poop in the water if I kept it in there cages. When I had babies they would drink from the water bowls easily.

Well, either he will keep doing it or he wont, id like to keep the water bowl in there though, even if he starts "doin' the doo" in it. Id rather him have a healthy, visibly (Ugh!) proven digestive tract. I have read it helps them to defecate if they are soaking in there water, so whats best for the little' guy is what he gets. As for the misting, he mist him once everyday or twice every second day. He doesn't seem to like it too much, warm or cool. His veggies and berries get sprayed down and he get's a few dabs on his nose every couple days just to be totally sure hes getting hydrated. I don't know why I keep saying he, don't know if its a he or she yet. just thought I'd throw that in there.... =D
