If you have crickets or superworms or any insect that moves alot you can put them in a clear plastic box and he will be sitting outside of it mesmerized shortly. It works for my Chinese Water Dragon and My Bearded Dragon, Good Luck, Hope you find him.

I have a dragon that always is getting out of his cage and wondering the house. Check inside shoes, or any place that's dark, mine always goes to sleep somewhere. I've even found him inside my printer and he's an adult dragon.

How old is your dragon? If it's an adult you really shouldn't have a problem finding him, however if it's a young dragon you may have more trouble as they will find it easier to get into smaller nooks and crannies. When did you lose him, i.e. what time of day? If it was late on at night it's likely he will be asleep somewhere nice and dark, if it's day time he is likely to be awake and wandering.
Leaving his tank open and lights and heat on is a good idea as he may find his way back there, also with a Chinese Water Dragon you want to be looking high up - they like climbing, have you tried checking the tops of curtains and rails etc?
Is there a possibility he may have gotten out of the room where his tank is? We have only had a couple of snakes that have managed to find their way out of tanks and they have been found either in the same room where they are housed or very near by; they won't usually venture too far, so keep looking close by as much as you can.
The dogs do worry me somewhat; they are natural hunters and may think he is something to play with, but please don't think the worst just yet. It's easy to panic and lose your head but this will only make things worse and make it hard for you to think clearly. Have a good look around and try some of the tricks suggested, I hope you find him, good luck with your search and please keep us all updated.

Well, good news. I found him... No, he found me, this morning. I just happened to look down at the dog bed and what do I see? A green thing. I couldnt believe it. He has been missing for five days or so. I really thought he had gotten outside. Im stoked. He mustve known that his MegaRay and his heat emitter were delivered yesterday. On the sad side, I have lizard poop somewhere in the house. And the rest of his shedded skin. AND, I let all his food go free last night so it wouldnt just sit there and die. Typical. And you can bet he's hungry.
Thanks everone for not giving up on him, I kinda did. But now my little buddy came home. If it had been an hour later, I wouldve missed him.

Thank God!!!!! I am so happy to hear that he is back! Maybe he was just going on strike until you got him that heat emitter?
