Honestly, I can't see this hurting the reptile world much worse than it's already been hurt. The whole idea of it is so absurd and over the top that if it starts influencing our ability to ship critters than I will officially give up on this country.
I agree with Queen 'O Green a billion percent. I think we should all lighten up just a weeeee bit. "Snakes on a Plane" is NOT a serious movie -at least I'm not taking it as one. It's meant to be fun! It's silly! It's ridiculous! It's called "Snakes on a Plane" for crap's sake!

The movie is going to make a lot of money not because it's Oscar-material , or even because people are actually seeking to be afraid. They want to see Sam L. Jackson -the mother of badasses- in a movie with a title as ridiculous as SNAKES ON A PLANE. The concept of the movie is great. You have stupid B-movies coming out where they PRETEND that they're going to be these masterpieces, but Mr. Jackson basically said he took the movie because it came right out and TOLD you it was going to be a fun piece of crap.

Personally, I can't wait. I'm bringing rubber snakes and praising the heavens that hollywood isn't going to pretend it has "Gone With the Wind" on its hands here :P Although reading that article in Reptiles, I think the filmmakers are taking it a little too seriously XD Thinking people are...afraid ?

By the way, if anyone's really interested in the reptiles article, if I get bored I might type the whole darn thing out. I'm a speed typer and I have the magazine sitting in my room (with Heebeejeebee) so...

Movies where they want us to think are all well and good. But when this comes out, I'm going to rush to the theatre, turn off my brain, and -no matter how crappy this film is- have a great time ;p

As ridiculous as it looks, I won't be seeing it...

...at least it wasn't "Iguana's On A Plane" where all they'd do is sit around licking stuff and staring at everyone.

Bravo Redsrevenge and Queen O Green! Its the same situation as when eight legged freaks came out. You really can't go and expect it to be a documentary. If people take it seriously and start freaking out over a teeny harmless little cornsnake now, why its up to us herpers to re-educate them. If they insist on being ignorant, well some people are just stupid and theres nothing you can do. Its a movie... a moooooovie.

Actually my lady pointed out last night that it just may have some real entertainment value!
We could all go sit in the back of the theater and watch to see which of the audience were actually herpers!
As they rip the movie to shreds for inconsistancy!

Jason, I have to disagree - I think if this movie makes reptile sales shoot up it certainly won't be for the good of the animals; do you think that people who actually buy an animal because they have seen it in the movies actually buy it with knowledge and respect? I highly doubt it!

I personally can't take these films lightly; they do more damage to us and our reptiles' reputation. I think it looks worse than I can type on here and I for one will not be watching it, even when it comes to the small screen!!

Rach, I never even though of that. Very similar to all of the poor clownfish that suffered a grim fate after finding nemo was released. The creation of a boom in a market of living animals fueled only be a breif fad I hope this doesn't lead to a ton of people buying little neonates thinking they stay small just to find out they've purchased a 5+ foot animal.

I'll probably watch it when it comes on HBO.
