We don't have cable (only DVD's) so we haven't seen the trailer for the movie, but it was the talk of the reptile weekend. My husband says that there is a new breed of snake called the "Hollywood Variety" LOL, this was after realizing that there would be anaconda's there last weekend. I must say I was a bit hesitant about the anacondas, but once I say them, they were ok. Other wise I wouldn't have let Sean handle them all weekend.

The thing I don't like about most of them is they portray all snakes as deadly venomous should be killed at all costs slithering devils.

I have no opinion on way or another about the movie. a while back a B movie tarantuala movie came out. Don't rememeber which one but it actually upped the purchase of sales for arachnids as a whole. Now for you nay sayers, the movie is actually going to benefit snakes! Well...kinda. http://www.venomousreptiles.org/articles/297

The article about it in Reptiles (Aug or July issue) was great. The producers DID ask that we herpers go easy on them for the NEED to use non-venomous snakes.
By the amount of internet time this flick is generating, it's sure to become a cult classic. We'll see.

My friend's uncle did the sound for Lord Of The Rings and some of the Star Wars (among other things) and he said that the second he heard the tittle for this movie he sent in his resume without a glance at the script. LoL. I can't blame him.
Honestly, I can't see this hurting the reptile world much worse than it's already been hurt. The whole idea of it is so absurd and over the top that if it starts influencing our ability to ship critters than I will officially give up on this country.
Not to say that movies don't influence people. I was at the pet store where my friend works the other day holding on of the Bearded Dragons on my shoulder when this group of girls came in. They took one look at the cute innocent guy sitting there minding his own business squealed something about "those deadly lizard things from 'Holes'" And wouldn't come near me the whole time I was there. It was almost funny, accept that they would literally squeal and jump away if I walked by them, which I had to do several times. Bah.

Steph you said the article was Aug or July? I just picked up a Sept issue and there's an article in there. Is that the same one you are talking about?

Mike, you are correct. It was September's issue.

Hello,
I have seen the trailor for this movie and it looks completely unrealistic. I doubt anyone who sees it would actually believe that any of the snakes depicted were trully venomous. Unless I am mistaken, they even tossed in a few rubber cobras.
I guess my biggest "issue" with this movie is that it actually made it to the big screen. Something this lame seems like it should have gone straight to DVD. Thats just my opinion. I won't be rushing to the movies to see this. When it is released on DVD, I may see it then. Not on my top 10 though. lol

LOL! I agree! I will probably see it when it comes to the rentals I wouldn't waste my money going to a theater.
But then there are very few movies I WOULD waste the money on by going to a theater!

I know at least one real cobra was used. Only shot(with the camera that is) nobody came in contact with it except the guy that was in charge of the snakes.
