new idea works woot woot
Ok so I told a coworker of mine that I made my tank and I was telling him about how I had did it and he was extremely interested with it and asked if I would do one for his turtle, I told him it was rather expensive material wise to do and that the larger the tank the better cost wise as the amount of matterials doesnt increase all that much when doing it... anyways it costed me about 30 bucks to do his 20 gallon tank but I had more than half of the materials my self but I added it all up and it came to about 60 bucks to do... i charged him 50 to do it because I was mostly using his for a test run to make sure it would work and it does......
Now I am going to tell you what I did... i made a little underwater world for his 20 gallon tank. i dont have pictures currently but may eventually get some of it... so for now I am just going to give you a visual there is a shore 5-6 inches along the sides and back wall about 4 inches from the top. along the walls on the side and back it is shaped to represent underwater... mudd. with blacks browns and some slight greens. On the right front side from the shore line of the land to the bottom is a stalagmite type cave pillar.. along the back side is two caves each big enough for his turtle to go into and rest under water... one of them on the under side of the land in the top center a little off set to the right. The other in the lower left corner. I sealed it all with several layers of exterior paint and then used the marine boat paint that is able to be used in permanent water. Now here is where I thought it was going to be tricky... I had to make this entirely out side of his tank... So in other words I made an underwater world insert for his 20 gallon tank. I made it all about 1/8 inch bigger than the inside dimensions of the glass so that it would squeeze the sides tightly rather than float up to the top. Originally I had made it in 2 pieaces the underwater part and then the land to go on top... Thinking this would allow it to fit with a bit of manuevering... I was sadly mistaken... I then had to take it back and I cut the underwater piece in half so that it would fit and I then had to hide where I had cut it... all turned out well and it was a success. I just thought I would share with everyone how it turned out... now I am going to see if I cant get some pictures to post on to this.
