In the literature setion it mentions that some of the IC staff keep their ig in a 4'x4'x1' habitat. I was wondering would keeping an ig in this size enclosure be ok if the ig was getting out for around 2-3 hours every day. Or should I just stick with my original idea of the bigger the better.

I say bigger is better, it also depends on the size of your ig

In this case, bigger is better. I have two little iggys right next to me right now in a 50 gal breeder aquarium. However their enclosure is already built out in the screen room and they will be going out to it shortly as soon as it warms up a little more. That enclosure is 4' x 4' x 6'

Hello,

When dealing with iguanas, bigger is always better. If you can buil;d an enclosure 8 feet long, 6 feet high, and 4 feet wide....go for it! lol

Unless you are reading something that I haven't seen the measurements were 4ft wide 4ft tall and 2 ft deep. And even that is a bit cramped for anything but a juvenile. Imagine a lizard in there that is 6 ft long with a body length of a foot or longer. Anything less than 2 ft deep is going to make it very rough for the animal to turn around without doing a somersault!

Hello,

If your ig can do a somersault than he should be in a circus or something.
