Rack System

Many of you seem to use the rack system for your reptiles. Sean had gotten a video from the library today and both of the presenters used the rack system, but they never showed picture of the system. Would some one please take some pictures and post them. Thanks!

So basically they are rubber maid (or like) tubs stacked on top of each other? Are they heated from under the tubs? Using what?

Beth,
I just looked at your last link and wondered if an old paretical board dresser would work (without drawers of course)?

Thanks I don't think about checking on the web, some days I'm so slow...

I think that would probably work pretty well, I've never actually built a rack but from what I've read it's not too terribly difficult once you figure out what you want to do with it. There is a lot of cool things on our sister site http://www.herphabitats.com/

That site can help you with a lot of building/heating/lighting and anything else you can think of that has to do with their home.

Actually its more like a bookcase. The shelf one row of tubs sits on top of is the top for the row of tubs beneath it. However this means that the shelves and tubs must have an exact fit or you will find yourself periodically involved in snake searching. Not fun.
The alternative is to use individual tops for the tubs. This is what I do and I use velcro strips to fasten the tops on securely.
Heating is accomplished by running a heat tape or Under Tank Heater either under the tubs or along the back wall of the shelf. I use Human type heating pads. One pad heats 2 enclosures.
