    Re: Dresser Conversion

Been a while since I updated my progress on this, things got slowed down a lot when I moved. I'm finally done everything except getting the glass for the front. I called a couple places near me and they all quoted me close to $90 for two pieces of 1/4" plate glass 16 9/16 x 18 1/4. Any suggestions on where to get glass for cheaper?

Looking good. Glad to see you using good quality light fixtures.
As for the glass that is pretty pricey. Are they quoting tempered?
I get 1/4" glass for $2.60 sq ft.
But keep looking as prices are all over the place for sure.

    Re: Dresser Conversion

Thank you, since I mounted them inside I wanted to be sure humidity wouldn't be an issue. So far my cost for this has only been about $95 which isn't too bad. Once this project is done I'm going to start plans for a 6'x26"x6' cage.

I just called a couple of auto places in the area and finally found one that stocks and cuts plate glass, they quoted me at $30+tax. That still comes out to be about $7.15/sq.ft before tax but it's a lot better. Nope, not tempered, just 1/4" plate glass with polished edges. This is at least in an affordable range for me, after that all I need is a lock for the front and I might get some kind of handles for the glass.

That price is about right. I paid about 27 dollars for a peice 13x40x1/4.
And for the record, they can't cut tempered glass. It has to be the right size before tempering it.
What do you mean by handles for the glass?

Like the little plastic kind you see on a cabinet or display case for sliding the glass sideways.

I just use the adhesive 3M hooks. You can get clear ones that look pretty good.
