Is this safe "wood"?

Hi guys!
I've moved Pog into a new enclosure (another converted aquarium) and a friend of mine helped me to make a nifty cover in wood.
Thing is, with the new geckos in, I totally forgot to ask you about this type of wood.
I know pine and cedar are toxic so I stood away from MDF (here is largely made of pine) and chose another cheap "wood".
Is made of compact sawdust and color is dark brown. Does this ring a bell?
Unfortunately, I don't know the name in english =(

Compacted saw dust sounds to me like MDF. There is nothing wrong with pine, just be safe and paint it with a couple coats of water based acrylic latex. Itll be fine.

It's not MDF, it's something else. The literal translation of the name is agglomerate.
I'll follow your advice just to be on the safe side.

Thanks =)

So Snakeman...if I use the "water based acrylic latex (paint, is it?)" on cedar wood, will it be safe then? I have the most awesome piece of wood but I think it may be cedar and I'm afraid to use it with my snakes just it case it IS cedar. Its a very old old piece of driftwood that's sun bleached white and looks SO cool and when I broke a chunk of it off, it was a very pale cedar color on the inside. I'll put on 20 coats of this stuff on that piece of wood if I can use it! LOL
