I'm a bit confused. I've read the info on the sites you provided. (I can read and understand German.) But something is still not clear to me. How do you seal the styrofoam? I had some unsealed styrofoam under my heating pad buried in the substrate and had to throw it out every month because it would start to stink.

I can see using the styrofoam to insulate the outside of a glass terrarium, but how do you clean and disinfect a terrarium made of styrofoam?

some people put tiles in for the floor of the terrarium,and the sides are covered with tile adhesive that is painted with acrylic paint.But you can just paint the inside with acrylic paint,or the way Hide Clyde does it is also a way of doing it.
I myself used tile adhesive,because I made some fake rocks for the background which blend in with the walls of the terrarium.
BlackJack,go to Google or Yahoo and look for 'styropor terrarium bauanleitung'.There are a lot of diffrent examples.What I showed you here is just a small example how it can look.But there are lots more creative people out there with great styrofoam terrariums and great ideas!!
