you can also use a toothbrush (clean one!) to scrape off any gunk that attatches to the bark. if you're still picky about it, you can buy some aquarium sealant at a pet store and lightly "paint" the cork, making it completely water-resistant. make sure you get in all the little cracks though, cork's some pretty gnarly stuff. i had two FBTs but sadly, both died. I'm thinking of getting some more, but I'm not sure if I want to tear up a 33 gallon tank I have or not...
And yes, males will grab onto anyone they see... I wondered why my "female" wasn't laying eggs, then she started croaking about a week later! They're fun little guys though...

Very nice setup and use of cork for the divison for the pond.
