Cage Size

This is what our member has to say: What is the best size viv for a pair of adult bp's? I already have a 3'x3'x15" custom made, would that be big enough?...

Do you know what that tank rates in gallons? 40-55g is recommended for one adult BP, so for two you should probably double that, I would think. Is there a reason they're being housed together? I'm sure you've been told all about the dangers of housing BPs together, so I won't even go there.

That should be fine. I keep my pair in a 55 gal tank (48x12x20).

Its roughly 85 gallons. Should I keep them in separate tanks unless breeding or would it be ok to leave them together all the time?

Whether or not to keep them together is purely a personal decision based on experience. We house our BPs separately, but this is due to the fact that both adults are male, and did not get on well when we had them together, and our female is much younger and too small to be housed with either of the other two.

If you have yours together and they are happy and healthy, and showing no signs of stress - e.g. not eating, fighting, etc. then they should be fine together. The only thing I would caution on is - if they are kept together and are of opposite sex, they will breed, and possibly before they are big enough.

If you do have any problems with them, then you should think about separating them.

If they do end up breeding before proper size or age, would that hurt them?

My pair (4 years old) have been housed together since they were both hatchlings. There has been no conflict. Usually where one is the other is also.
There has been no sign of breeding activity. From people I have talked to it seems that BPs that are kept together constantly are reluctant to breed. It is only by separating them and then reintroducing them that courtship was observed.
I have heard that two males may not get along but I have no first hand knowledge of this.
