bd cage

I'm going to start building a custom cage for 2 of my bds. I was wondering if there is any type of wood to stay away from that could be bad for them. Also what can I use to waterproof the inside with that will be safe also. Thanks for your help!

Polyurethane is a great sealer. Stay away from pressure treated wood like they use for outdoor applications like decking. A lot of it contains arsenic.

Melamine or well sealed plywood should do the trick. Melamine is heavy though, but is waterproof except for on the cut edges that need to be sealed back up after cutting. Hope that helped

does anybody have any pictures of their custom built enclosures? also would it get too hot for the bd on the top cage if I stacked them? meaning would the bottom of the enclosure heat up too much from the basking bulb from the tank of the bottom? i plan to have vents on both sides of the enclosures, would this be enough air flow to help with the heat? finally how would you attach the basking bulb fixture to the top of the enclosure without the bd being able to burn itself. i feel like I just keep running into problems on trying to build this. any more help would be great. thanks.
