    Re: Bts Enclosure(build Log)

LOL! Looking closer, those are quart cans.
But thats what I was thinking,..the little 8 oz cans.
I know I went thru a full quart and then some on my boa cage. But I also didn't want to scrimp on the sealant and have to pitch a moisture damaged enclosure in a few months.
But a 6ft boa makes considerably more of a mess than a bluey!

Hahaha I almost got those little cans!!! Good thing I didn't! What kind of boa were you making the enclosure for?

    Re: Bts Enclosure(build Log)

The front window is just a picture frame type of affair, 45 degree cuts on the ends and a groove in the back for the glass to sit in. The glass is held in place by silicone. The glass is 1/4 inch plate.
    Heres the thread about it

Thanks! I think I'm going to just do something like that, if not the same. Who did you have cut your glass? Did you just have it all done at a glass shop? It's not tempered is it?

    Re: Bts Enclosure(build Log)

I had a local glass shop do it. Cost me 27 dollars.
I built the framework for the door, and then ordered the glass to fit in the groove, took them a couple of hours to cut and sand the edges. Laying it flat, I siliconed it in and let it dry for 24 hours before hanging the door.
    No. its not tempered.
That will really take the price up and for a Bluey its totally unnecessary. 1/4 inch plate is sufficient for a boa. Thats a heavy peice of glass!
For a blue tongue you could probably get by with a bit thinner.

    ture that Mer.

I started sanding the wood today as I was told. I ran into a bit of a problem. As I started sanding(heavy sanding as was told) the stain started to come off! Now my wood has and ugly clouded color over it. I have a couple of pictures to show you guys. What the ____ happend?

    Re: Bts Enclosure(build Log)

Stain does not penetrate all parts of the wood equally. Some areas are denser than others.
Your heavy sanding should have been done prior to applying the stain, otherwise you are removing the stain you just put on! You can put on another coat of stain but it will darken some areas now.
