That's a GREAT thread... I've posted it here before. It's too bad that some of the pictures are now missing.

Re: How I Made My Cliffs...

unfortunately it happens a lot, but its still pretty informative and pictures that still there do give you something too think about.

Re: How I Made My Cliffs...

So I finished grouting it today, took pictures, but still need to find stone piece for the top.
front with view of hide hole at the bottom.
side view with other hide hole at the bottom
lid of container is still removable to gather eggs, or clean and maintain moisture of bedding material.
bottom view, so you can see size and layout of hide holes, and just an over view of it.

Re: How I Made My Cliffs...

Just thought I'd update everyone on the joys of cleaning out my tank. Yesterday I spent a few hours really cleaning everything out. I pretty much ripped it apart. I found that most of the plants have little or no roots left, so they're gone for now, while they get some new roots, or I get different plants. Under the cliffs, I found dubia roaches, all sizes, probably 3 dozen bugs total, one of the cliffs even had/has some spots where the little buggers got inside the grout, ask how happy that made me. I also found meal worms in varying stages, worm, grub, and beetle. Part of the reason for the redo was one of my females is a little skinny after egg laying and I needed to separate the male from them, and it was time for a really good cleaning. The cliff that was/is bug infested needed some more grout on the top as it had developed cracks, and it was getting worse, at least I thought so, hubby said it just looked more realistic. I could make you chuckle and post the pictures of how I've got things right now, the male is in a ten gallon inside the larger one. I never realized until I did this just how much space the cliff took up in that tank.

It actually takes up less space then the cliff I took out. This is just a temp. housing arrangement until She gains back a bit of weight, and I just wasn't able to keep his temps in the correct range in the back room, just too cold. I tried it for one day and got the serious evil eye from him, and the girls were looking for him too. This way they can still see each other and if they really want to try, can probably find a way to get together again. He's climbed over a divider before, so I wouldn't be surprised if I found him in with them again in a day or two.
I'm not sure if the other cliff is going back in or if I'll just use the Moist/egg box hide instead.
Sorry for the long post, I do tend to ramble sometimes.

Re: How I Made My Cliffs...

I was there last night for a quick check in with the timer switching. It wasn't Ziggy trying to get to the girls, it was one of the girls trying to get to him. The fake log in the foreground in the above picture got taken out. now she can't do the kamikaze from the top and try to leap to the top of his tank. No injuries occurred.

Also did some work yesterday on the smaller set of cliffs, corplast releases really quick and easy from foam. started to cut the "steps" and gullies, will post pictures later.

hope everyone had a good 4th of July.

Re: How I Made My Cliffs...

Well this is just another update, have all the Leopard Geckos together again. Put the moist hide in, some other bits for them to play/climb on, and this is what it looks like now.

Belle;
I'm glad you enjoyed reading this thread, just go for it and have fun with the mono foam/ great stuff.
