the option of placing a couple vents in the unit itself has posed a concern for that. or do you think other steps may be required to control this?

What you put in there is going to determine how many can safely go in. Many reptiles can be territorial and while you would think there is enough space to make them happy they would be stressed out by being so close to others.
And I would suggest that rather than build the caves or tunnels into the wall, make them so you can move them. That way you are able to clean underneath or have access to the animal if need be... |
thanks also for the enthusiasm. And I suspected as much so thanks for establishing that as fact for me. So maybe for paired animals mostly would be better? Who would have thought they'd feel like married couples....lolz (ahem Sorry, recently divorced here..but I have humor to save me).
I'll sketch my design more for this feature. The rock face or formation itself would be designed to sit on a pin system. this would allow for removal of the unit for cleaning, access to the pet themselves if needed, and possibly if options are to change. Maybe the addition of other similar modules to be swapped. i see waterfalls are seemingly asked frequently. this could be an interesting rain forest module I could work with. but small time irrigation for live plants could be effectively planned out even. So we're on the same page so far

Why thanks for the welcome, The elaborate design to me is more of an aesthetics thing. Never can be too simple. When it comes to cars I like power and absurd handling characteristics however, i'm quite the stock Nazi in aesthetics. the more of a sleeper or unsuspecting look, the more perfect. but I duno, i just wanted something that kinda reminded me of a well thought out train layout like when I was a kid.
And actually the dome is so far the most expensive portion of the project, Just under $200. for a 40"dia.x19"ht. Pricey in its own right but again, being different I hope to make more than one configuration of this even thought about making a wall hanging version for amphibians or even scorpions or Tarantulas, ( I'll let you know how those come along too
) But all in all, just wanted somethin unique.

It was a green Anole, it was fairly inexpensive to my understanding. Now he has a "Bahama Anole", which is a brown like color. he adores it so.
But NOW hes talkin about getting a pair of "Chinese water dragons"? which to my understanding are a bit more of the rain forest sort. so now the project may get a bit more complicated to some degree.
But I have a good visual now.
