I thought about that, but then the latch "flexes" not really that bad, but I liked the more solid bond, it closes better. If I break any off after this, I may just suck it up and silicone them on this time, it does make them harder to knock off.

You don't put the silicone on that thickly. just a thin even film.
Let it cure well and there won't be any flex to the latch.

I probably did use too much when I tried, I have a tendency to think more adhesive, mean it will be more adhesive, which is usually wrong.
If one more snaps off I'm going to pull them all off and silicone them on.

Awesome idea and diagrams Ryan! I can use this on my Anole tank and get rid of the plexiglass that I have sitting on top for keeping the humidity up.
