Re: Melamine
What type of an enclosure will it be used for? Are you talking about solid melamine or pressed wood that is coated with melamine?

Re: Melamine
I don't care for melamine. Its heavier than regular wood and if it gets damp it falls apart!

Re: Melamine
Moisture causes the wood to swell.. malamine is is a vinyl coating over wood, that once is scratched exposes the wood, which allows it to harbor bacteria. YUCK!
That is the stuff that Kmart and wal mart furniture is made out of.

Re: Melamine
Stained plywood would be your best choice. Lighter and a bit more costly if you get it sanded already. It is well worth it.

Re: Melamine
No, its not already stained. Its presanded so its not as rough as normal plywood. You stain it and then seal it. Then silicone the corners so nothing gets out. If this is for a Blue Tongue Skink, I would look into putting corner round in the corners due to the fact that they are messy. Ask lacey she had some problems with them getting food in the corners and making it tough to get out.

Re: Melamine
Yeah they like to take it and play and smear it around lol. Atleast that was what I found out from lacey when I talked with her about them.
