Re: Construction Underway

I love my dragons! They both have totally different personalities. I was told how "easy" it was to care for them and they would make a great "starter" lizard...lol So, what did I do? I bought 2! lol Oh how ignorance is bliss for the "bull" shoveler...lol Anyways...I have found out different and I wouldn't trade them for ANYTHING! They have become my obsession...in a way.

I thought about a plexi front to keep the weight down. With it being 2 feet deep, I am hoping that she does not mark it up too bad with her scratching. If I give her enough other things to keep her occupied...I might just suceed. lol

I was hoping to install a small plastic pond with a set up like you were talking about. A drain in the bottom and, I know this sounds tedious but, I can pull it out to disinfect and clean. My electrical wattage for the lamps and the fans is about the max I will be be able to do, cuz it is an older house...don't want to blow the breaker. I will mist it down by hand and , with the live plants, track my humidity levels to see if that is going to be sufficient. I may end up calling an electrician to see if he can add another breaker for me. Oh well...whatever is best for my babies.

Re: Construction Underway

No need to pull it out to disinfect. Just wipe the pool down with a cleaner you can use in the cage. Just put the babies in the tub or a plastic tote until the fumes dissipate. There are some safe non-toxic cleaners that are safe to use without having to rinse it completely.

Re: Construction Underway

I would take any suggestions as far as products to use. I am currently using a terrarium cleaner by R-Zilla that is non-toxic, but I dont think it is a disinfectant. I use it on the glass walls of their current tanks.

Re: Construction Underway

Live plants should be enough to keep your humidity up, just water often

Re: Construction Underway

Good job you caught it early. However, 4ft isnt very tall for a water dragon unless it is a babie or early juvie. Are you planning on expanding up anytime soon?, lol

Re: Construction Underway

I thought 4 feet was the standard? Her size seems to be the standard I usually read about. And with it on a stand, it will be like lacey's ig, how he thinks he's higher than he really is.

Re: Construction Underway

Drago and Cassie are about 1 1/2 years, I am guessing. The whole setup will be 6ft tall...base included. They will only have 4 feet of "drop" space though. I was hoping since it will still be 6ft in length, that they will be ok. I am house sitting(renting) this place until it gets sold. My next "home" requirements will have to include taller and wider doorways incase I have to build a bigger enclosure.
