Re: Crestie Tank

The tree idea I got from another member that did something similar but instead of covering with the EE they covered with plaster or papermache or something like that. The log was just one that was cool and I thought it would make a good hide, It was already partially hollowed out anyways. The Elbow was just from walking through the aisles at Lowes and figuring out what all I could make use of.

Re: Crestie Tank

Just so you know, the water dish is kind of a waste. Most Crested Geckos wont even bother to look at a water dish. they much more enjoy licking the water off of the walls or some plants. Actually, there have been situations of Crested Geckos drowning in small pools of water.

Re: Crestie Tank

So tonight Brett and I were going out with some friends and I didn't really want to leave the cats out alone with all the tank pieces spread everywhere. So I temporarily put everything into the tank so that they couldn't get to it, and so I could get an idea of if I like where everything was placed. I had already taken the 3 plants I bought and split them up into smaller bunches. These I planted into plastic cups the same size as the ones I used to make the space in the great stuff. These I was able to just drop into the holes and when I need to I can just lift them out.
Anyways... Heres pics of the tank, like I said still have to silicone and EE the background and then add the floor.

Re: Crestie Tank

That is going to look fantastic when it is finished!! I set up my crestie tank this weekend also!! Not THAT fancy though...just a 20 gal on it's side with a bunch of plants and whatnot...not an awesome wall like that. Maybe someday! Hopefully I will have the crestie by the weekend!

Re: Crestie Tank

I don't think that I have enough space at the bottom... I figured with the ivy and the pothos they will spread a fair amount and then I also have another plant on the bottom than is a spreader but I can't remember the name of it...

Re: Crestie Tank

ok, so tonight I had a little bit of free time after doing all the cleaning and laundry that I should have done over the weekend, so I started to finish the background. After doing the tree and the pvc hide, I found that when I do a small section and then move on to the next, I had issues with the area I had just done coming up and leaving a bare spot. So I started doing areas in about 6" squares but moving all around the back. This way by the time I go back to the area next to somewhere I had already worked on it had had some time to set and dry a bit.

I SOOO WOULD HAVE FINISHED TONIGHT IF I HADN'T RUN OUT OF SILICONE!!!!

Here are the pics of what I got done tonight...
