Dividing Cage Any Ideas
Hey guys I have a 50 gal. long tank that I need to put in a makeshift divider for. I am getting a new suriname soon, and I don't want to stress her out in a cage that big as a baby. I just need something temporary and preferably something I can make from around the house. Any ideas would be helpful.

Re: Dividing Cage Any Ideas??
Plexi or glass cut to fit works good. Take the measurements to Lowes or someplace and get them to cut a piece. A piece of glass that size should be like $5.00 or so. Put a few daps of silicone on each side to hold it up. When you need to take it out later just use a utility knife blade to scrape the silicone off the glass.
Also if you have any thin masonite pieces they work good too. It's 1/4" th particle board or mdf.
If you use glass take a pc of sandpaper and sand the sharpness off the top edge so you don't cut yourself later.

Re: Dividing Cage Any Ideas??
thanks kriminaal plexi will def hold better than cardboard because as soon as the snake climbs on the cardboard it will probably fall in a heartbeat. Im gonna give em both a try thanks guys

Re: Dividing Cage Any Ideas??
now, i don't now what their requirements are, but if they need high humidity, the cardboard will mold so that's a bad idea. If they need humidity, go with plexi.

Re: Dividing Cage Any Ideas??
Thanks guys for the suggestions. I just got back from lowes with a new piece of glass they cut for me. I went with regular glass, not plexi. I grabbed a tube a silicone caulk while I was there, but I didn't even need it. When I got home I put some masking tape on the edges of the glass so I didn't scratch up the tank and it slid right in. It's a really snug fit, so tight that I didn't even need to caulk it. It should be perfect until the snake outgrows it then I'll pull it right out. Ill post pics of the new addition when I get her. Thanks a lot guys

Re: Dividing Cage Any Ideas??
you might want to consider adding a few dabs of the silicone anyways, you wouldn't want for it to accidentally slip and fall onto your new snake...

Re: Dividing Cage Any Ideas??
I agree. Secure that glass!
If the snake bmps it hard enough it may fall.

Re: Dividing Cage Any Ideas??
Also make sure the snake cant get to the tape, over time when the snake rubs on it its eventually going to start coming off the glass and thats not something you want your snake stuck on
