This is what our member has to say: The danger with pine(and cedar)is in the shavings. It is indeed the resinous sap. But as a building material its fine....

Looking good Mike.
Yep the sap acts like an insecticide. That's why cedar is used to line chests. it repels moths and bugs from eating your clothes.

I may take that moss idea from ya for my Vivarium. looks very nice.

thanks alot

yea it worked out well for covering spots that didnt get the best coverage with the coco chunk. the moss I used was a beaked moss from zilla. i had never saw it before and when I saw it at the reptile show it looked like it would work well and it was CHEAP. i didnt need to buy the huge bag(i almost bought 2 :|) but having extra is better than not enough

ok so I was helping my friend convert a tv unit into a new enclosure and we decided to attempt the foam wall. this time it went very well. I think my whole problem lied in the substrate I was attaching to the foam. We used CYPRESS MULCH and it worked AWESOME. definately better than the coco chunks!!!
