| This is what our member has to say: Ok, remember when I made the fire belly toad tank and I didn't use aquarium sealant and I had to redo it all?
Guess what ... |

Sealant Mistake #2
Ok, remember when I made the fire belly toad tank and I didn't use aquarium sealant and I had to redo it all?
Guess what sealant I used on the Whites Tree Frog vivarium? Yup. You guessed it. Its finally gotten saturated enough there is water at the bottom and the silicone has broken free and I have water leaking out the bottom into the pressboard. (the entire bottom 12 inches is lined with plexiglass.)
Sooooo, after christmas, I will be relocating the frogs into the 20 gallon temp tank (oh boy they will LOVE that) and taking out the bottom 2 plants, the dirt, the rocks and trying everything out and resealing it. OH BOY I CAN'T WAIT.

Fortunately the Red Eye Tree Frog set up is in an actual tank. No leaks there.

I find I'm usually in the position to learn things the hard way as well. But hey things are always better the second time around.

Re: Sealant mistake #2
Dont use silicone to seal water of anykind, wont work. Unless you want to replace it everyfew months, like around a bathtub or something. All the fun stuff of that.
See you learned though. :P

Re: Sealant mistake #2
well, i couldn't wait till after christmas. My arm already hurts from scooping and so far all I have removed is the dirt. I still have the rocks to go.
and DUH, i have an empty vivarium. Its the old Whites Tree Frog tank, waiting for Red Eye Tree Frog, so for now that will be a temporary and cramped home, but they will live.
