Could use some advice please

Hey everyone. First let me say I learn something everyday for all of you. Currently I’m an Animal rehabber in SW OK. Unfortunately like with all animals there has been a rise in injured animals recently. Now for what I need help with can anyone give me a break down or draw out an enclosure for me? I know this sounds pitiful but computers are not my specialty and I need a print so I can estimate the supplies so I can go purchase and begin this project. The enclosure will be for a 13in. Chinese Water Dragon so I want to make it 76” wide x 38” Deep x 6ft high. That’s the area that I have made specifically for this. I will be putting rollers on it so I can move it easily for cleaning. I plan on making it somewhat similar to Meki’s enclosure. So any help peeps would help greatly advice anything. Appreciate the share of knowledge

Re: Could use some advice please

I'm sure someone here has sketched something out at some point. I would say look to spend around $300. Get creative with finding things taht aren't normally used. Old cabinet doors, etc.. Too bad wardrobes are made of cedar, I always thought a big one would make a super water dragon enclosure.

Ya I thought the same thing. Like using a pantry cabinet thing or like you said the wardrobe but unfortunently the wood is cheap lol. I have the botton frame allready set up made out of 2x4's and 4x4's so it will be stable. Debating on what ill use as a pond I want it to cover at least 1/3rd of the bottom of the enclosure.

Re: Could use some advice please

removable ponds are the easiest. Try a dish washing tub or a rubbermaid container. Put it on the bottom. Make a ramp or pile a few rocks around it so the WD can get it (if its a small WD).

Re: Could use some advice please

well, if you are good at construction, start building 3 walls. Frame up the front and figure out how you want your doors to be.

Re: Could use some advice please

now im want to give this guy as much room as I can. When putting up the walls I planned on using 3/4 inch plywood. What would be best to block/brace them since I will try to maximize the sheet of plywoods' size the best I can.

Re: Could use some advice please

i would say a simple 2 x 4 frame would be best. Nice and sturdy.

Re: Could use some advice please

I'll post a pick of the frame I built this evening when I get home. It's basically a wood frame about the size of a twin size bed. My wife and I used to take in foster kids and or home was also a safe haven so I had to have beds ready at all time. By all means it;'s not pretty but I hate to see stuff go to waste and it also will help my wallet lol.

Re: Could use some advice please

Nothing wrong with givng an old peice of furniture new life as an enclosure. Many people do it. I am forever driving down the road on "big trash day" and looking at things that might make a nice enclosure.
My long suffering wife just rolls her eyes!
Where in Ok are you?
