Waterproofing
Hi all
I'm currently building an enclosure for my water dragon. I am trying to decide what the best method of finishing/hiding the plywood is. I am torn between simply painting the plywood with a polyurethane type finish or gluing styrofoam to the plywood and painting then epoxying the styrofoam. I have come across a product by Rust-oleum called Stone Effects Countertop Coating. This product is a clear 2 part epoxy that is non toxic when cured and is good upto 180 f. The manufacturers have not tried it in an aquarium type environment so can't recommend it. Has anyone tried this product? Any suggestions as to what I can use? Cheers Chris |

Re: Waterproofing
That product has a website with a full MSDS list. However I couldn't find the countertop product listed. I know I've heard of some people using the garage floor product epoxy. It is definitely a cheaper way to go and should be fine as long as there is no water feature in contact with it. If there is the only safe way to epoxy it would be with a marine epoxy such as
WEST SYSTEM Epoxy This stuff isn't cheap though. Meki is currently creating a WD habitat with it. 1st C.W.D. Project Reloaded - Very image HEAVY

Re: Waterproofing
as for the wood, a simple waterbased sealant like minwax is fine.
