20 Long Split Up
I have thought about this and most of you know about the problem I have been having with one of my recently acquired Leopard Geckos. Well I had the idea instead of going out n purchasing a seperate 10 gallon tank and clamp lamp n stuff.
I would just get a tank divider and divide the 20 gallon long tank they are in currently for a while at least until Autumn grows a bit.

Good job, but you do know that they need to have a warm and cool side? Which would require another bulb, maybey lamp, or a Under Tank Heater anyways.

of course I know that they need a warm n a cold side I have that pretty much figured out . Move the Under Tank Heater I have to the middle of the tank underneath the divider and put the lamp right above the divider but I may be better off just getting another clamp lamp. i got light bulbs up the wazoo

The clear glass is going to cause some stress between the two. If they can see each other they are going to want to do something about it and if they can't thats going to cause problems.
There are several ways to make the divider nontransparent, let me know if you need some ideas. |

If it were me I would just go ahead and set up a second habitat, To keep the temperature gradient you would have to divide the tank longways leaving you with two sections only 6" wide.

I agree with Jay. If you are going to be using the glass.
I had an idea to use small slate peices and glue them together with silicone. Stack a few peices up vertically, high enough so they can't climb over, and then put it in the tank. Its going to insulate the sides a little but a heat lamp on top of it should generate some heat throughout the tank. If you try this test test test, I wouldn't want it to fall or get too hot. This idea would waste a few inches of the tank but I think it would work and look good ![]() |

you could separate the tank at a diagonal...that might help with the temp gradient problem.
i have done this before with a piece of foam coreboard I got at the art store that I cut to size and then stuck in there. it worked quite well for me, although it was quite ugly. it being visually appealing wasn't the point of it, though...the point was to make sure my Leopard Geckos were happy and healthy. lola |

hmm, the foam coreboard might just work the way I want to do it. Thanks for the idea lola. I dont see why my original idea wouldn't work having the central heat source there by it would cool out to the ends of the tanks, I realize that the divide tank is smaller in length than a normal 10 gallon tank. But as it stands right now I dont have the space for another tank. I wish I could afford a divided vision cage that would be the best thing
What about cardboard attached to each side of the plexi glass. I know would have to be pretty short so not to cause a fire hazard but like 2 inches from the top of the tank?

ok I did it even though u guys thought it wouldnt work yet it has. i used cardboard to help insulate and block the view and it worked at least till I can get a nother 10 gallon tank.
