I am in desperate need of help with plans for an iguana enclosure. My ig is approx. 7 inches snout to vent length. I want to create an enclosure approx. 6ft tall x 5ft wide. I HAVE NO CLUE where to begin as I have researched and have seen some enclosures I do like but they dont have plans. I am asking for any help as I am not very creative when it comes to this. I need an enclosure for dummies! LOL!!!! I can put anything together though! Can anyone offer any plans or guidelines or help?

There's no sense in starting a project that you'll have trouble completing. We can deduce that from you telling us what tools you have access to and if you have anyone that can give you a hand.

Also, there is detailed plans in James W. Hatfield's Green Iguana: The Ultimate Owner's Manual. I recommend that book for ALL ig owners... even if you're not particularly fond of the enclosure.

Another option - buy the materials and let the wood shop in the local high school or vo-tech tackle the project...:-) Just get the dimensions, a picture of what you want off the Internet, and ask the instructor if this is something he would let the kids do. The vo-tech runs year round since it's the adult school, but if you wanted to wait until school started again...or you have year round school there, too...then hit them up now. They're always looking for cool projects to do...:-)

Thanks. I would have thought that with all of the people who have actually built enclosures someone might have a plan that someone can follow. Since I do not plan on doing this again anytime soon, I dont want to use the plan in the Ultimate Book since I dont like it. Thanks anyway. I'll embark on this mission alone when I get it done I'll post plans for someone like myself who needs a working guide but is capable of building it....

Hello,

Many of us can walk people through the building process of an enclosure and offer ideas. Most of us don't have plans on hand. We may draw out what we want to build, and then we apply our knowledge of the materials and tools and build it.

At some point in the future, I do intend on writing up downloadable blueprints. (I was a carpenter for 14 years.) Currently though, we don't offer them on the site.
