Pics of my new vivarium built from antique armoire

Hi Everyone!
I am a new one here - just registered, but I have visited several times before looking for info on vivariums. I just finished mine - my nephew did the construction and I was his helper. I wanted to share pics of it. It was made out of an antique armoire. If you want to see it, just do this:
Go to:
www.sendtoprint.net

Then for gallery code, enter:
spyroyahoo

Then the pictures will come up. Hopefully I can find my way back to this site so I can see if you guys have any suggestions. I am having trouble keeping my humidity up at the top part of the viv. It is 5 1/2 feet tall, 4 1/2 feet wide and 2 feet deep. You can see, it has half pool, half land, and it has a 3 foot waterfall. Still, the humidity above is only about 65. Below, it stays at 80, which is great. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jacki

Welcome to Herpcenter,,,that is one awesome viv. Can you possibly cover part of the screening up top with something ? that might keep some humidity in.

very cool setup! but as ken said....cover part of it up....also try misting everyday. also if you can get the basking spot to somehow hit the water it would also raise the humidity. humidifier would also work with sucha large area. More foliage will also help.... just a few ideas

Re: Pics of my new vivarium built from antique arm

I have some of it covered up, about half.... and the humidity has already risen to about 70 at the top. Is this about right, if it is 80 below? Or does it need to be 80 in both places? I am looking into making an automatic mister from a sprinkler timer too. But, first need to recover from this big project!!! Thanks for your posts guys...

just out of curiosity, how do you gain access to the viv? looks to me like the front is all 1 piece of glass? (I like the way it looks, might want to steel the idea for myself ) it looks beautiful tho, good job!

Very nice job. As for the humidity question. It benefits the WD to have varying levels of humidity throughout the enclosure. Just as you would have varying temperatures throughout as well.

Re: Pics of my new vivarium built from antique arm

awesome viv!!! I really want to do something similar for my Red Eye Tree Frog enclosure I'm planning. I think your humidity is great as Mike said. Varying temps and humidities are a good thing.

Can you put a shot on there of the entire piece of furniture so we can get a really good look at the whole package?

And it looks like the entire front where the glass is, is one big door that swings open?
