Re: 1st C.W.D. Project Reloaded - Very image HEAVY

Take a look at the original thread that started at Herp Habitats and unfortunately has been archived rather than moved. But you will see the way I was building it right from the moment of purchasing the materials.
I have 5 heavy duty wheels that will support up to 250 KG of weight

yes I like moving things around too hehehe

Allright....

It's 2:46 am time for another update hehe....

I have finally found the right fittings for the humidifier hook up and I had a chance to set it up and connect the pipes.

Here what it looks like:

This is a joint inside on the bottom next to to be dig box:

This is a closer look

This is a photo of the joint outside of the cage on the left. This is connected to the flexible pipe that is usually used for central vacuum cleaners.

This is a wider angle

Now...
I also had time last night to put a second coat of mortar... This time I used a flexible cement based waterproofing. this stuff looks like mortar but u have to use some kind of white stuff as a solvent I think it is called mastique or something.

Another shot

This is a photo of a little hiding spot for the dragon it will not be attached to the background this way it can be moved if need be.

Keep in mind that the backgrounds and the whole enclosure is completely mobile and can be taken apart easily (backgrounds, the substrate, digbox swimming pool etc...)

Here's another shot of the background.

I like the way it looks now.

The next step is to paint it using some acrylic paint... and then epoxy mess

See ya....

PS

happy bday kriminaal

Looking good. Very smart to make it all dissassembleable(if that's a word) Make it a lot easier for cleaning. Thanks for the Happy birthday.

1st C.W.D. Project Reloaded - More More Pix

Allright, this weekend you are getting a 2 for 1 feature

Here are some more updates.

I have tried to fit in the background pieced into the enclosure to see how it would look like after applying the second coat.

So here you go.
Now you can get an idea what it would look like when it is done

And this is another angle:

And another one:

After that I went out to the Reno Depot (The hardware store) and got 500ml of the wood filler.

I have filled and sealed every little crack opening and gap that I could find in the enclosure especially joints.

This is the preparation for painting with epoxy.

Here is another angle.

Some more torture

Make sure that u never use dial up again

And a closeup.

Yeah make sure u don't use your fingers otherwise you will have a lot of fun getting this stuff off

Allright this is it for the weekend.

Re: 1st C.W.D. Project Reloaded - Very image HEAVY

Hey Hey Hey!!!!

Another super duper update

I DID IT!
I have finally had courage to get paint and paint the rocky background waterfall and the little cage.

I went out to the hardware store and picked up 3 colors sorry I kinda forgot the names: 3 quarts total. Those were kinda earth colors one of them is terra cotta I think I will get the name later.

What I did was I used the darkest color deep reddish... as the main color and for darker areas to make it more 3d then lighter color for other areas like sides or rocks etc... and then used the lightest earth color for dry brushing and highlights.

Here are the shots... Sorry some of them are a bit blurry I did not have my camera on me.

Right wall.

Left wall.

The little cave ** Sowwy its a bit blurry.

Another shot off the tiny cave.

Waterfall to be.

Drying main back wall.

Closeup.

Yay one more.

SPAM SPAM SPAM .... Picture SPAM
I hope this gives you a better insight on my project.

I am sure for the followers of this project this may be quite entertaining !

Allright I will give another update tomorrow.

Igggor.

Re: 1st C.W.D. Project Reloaded - Very image HEAVY

Hello!

So this is another update as promised.

Well I have fitted in the background to see how it will look all together!
I must say I am very pleased with the result.

This is another angle of the enclosure.

Today I have made holes for the ventilation grills that will open when the air will be sucked out by the fan that is installed on top.

This is the vent on the right side of the enclosure. It is not at the same distance from the edge because I am planning on putting some controls there.

This is what the hole looks from outside, I will have to put some wood sealant to blend it in

I have also made a hole with a jigsaw for the top fan. Basically this fan is pushing the air out of the cage. It will be attached to the timer.

Look from the inside.

Another shot.

All together now

Yay that is done,

So please give me some feedback I need to know if there are some things that could be useful that I could add to this project.

Ig.
