Rack

Alright I have read the directions. But I was curious if anyone here has any pictures of theirs and could possibly help or talk me threw it. I am going to have my dad help me. I am going to have to house about 12 leopard geckos and have extras for babies. And how much and I am looking to build this as far as cost. Will I still be able to enjoy the art of decorating and do they make clear ones because I enjoy sometimes just watching them while I am falling asleep. Thanks for all the help if possible!

Hi. No problem fire the questions. That would be your first task finding the appropriate bins you need. You should be able to find some that are a little more transparent. I'm not sure if you'll find some that are totally clear. So find all the bins you need and then we'll talk sizing up the rack for them to fit.

You could always make a 10 gallon rack. Like what they use for rats at some petshops. It would have to be sturdy due to the weight.

Alright mooglebass if I do so can I keep them so the large side of the tank is near me and not put them in there side ways. And I kno what you are talking about as far as the pets store. I kinda do want to do more like the 12 unit breeding rack because I would do it not 6 high with two rows. I would try pulling off 3 high with 5 rows so I have 15 bins in total. That way I have room for all 12 of my geckos and an area or make the 5 row just right so I can put smaller bins there. Now do you leave the lids on the bins because I have some geckos that will only eat crickets. How can I do this?

Like Mike said, it would be best to have the containers picked. In order to build the rack, we need to know the size.

Remember, you can use much smaller containers for babies.

A good example would be my mini rack. I use 4 - 26 quart sterilites. Those are great for the Leopard Geckos. Mine houses 2 in 2 sterilites and the others are alone.

If I were to build a new one, which I will be, I would have added some extra shelves for smaller containers.

The goal would be to build the rack suitable for raising the babies individually. They will eat more, and they will grow faster as a result. Its much less stress on them as well.

To do this, you should have 2 different sized containers. You should have the larger size, for theadults, and a container 1/3 the size of the adults for babies.

When we design the rack, all you would need to do is have "x" amount of shelves for the larger size and then begin smaller shelves with dividers for the baby containers. It is best to have every inch filled with baby containers. I believe that at least 12 baby containers should be ready to go. This will allow you to house 12 baby Leopard Geckos alone while you feed and care for them until they are large enough to sell.

So how can I house like 108 baby leopard geckos. Almost all my females will be ready next year except one. So thats about 8 females laying eggs. How can I house that many babies? My breeding colony will be 9 females to 3 males.

You don't need to keep the lids on that's the beauty of the rack system. You can leave just enough space for the container to slid in making the shelf above acting as the lid. I have no experience breeding Leopard Geckos but I don't think keeping 108 babies seperate is going to be a feasible idea.

So I am not going to be able to baby apart. I figure if I breed all females within the same week I just keep the babies that hatch together, together, and just feed mostly meal worms so as they get older when I adopt them out they dont eat just crickets. But off mealies 90% of the time so I can keep track of what they eat, and keep track of their weight.

rack system directions

Hi. I am new here and trying to put together a rack system and shelving for a room that gets only 62 degrees F. . I have a variety of snakes in all different sizes so I want something that is flexible with some larger than shoebox size as well as sweater box sizes. Ideally about 2 shelves of 3-4 shoeboxes and at least 2 sweater box size on a shelf. I also have a need for a shelf system to put bearded dragons and a few other tanks stacked with room for the heat on top. It wold be great if I could figure out a front opening for easy access to the animal.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Is this basically what you're talking about? Incorporating everything in to one? Using flexwatt heat tape for the snakes and lights for the Bearded Dragons.
Excuse the quick drawing.
