If you are talking about mesh then I'm pretty sure Chams can be kept in them. I know there is more but I am at a loss, lol

I beleive this is what you are talking about
ESU Housing/Accessories product detail by bestpetsupply.com And technically when we talk about mesh sides we are also referring to screen regardless of the material. The problem with these enclosures is they are difficult to control heat and humidity.

In the ad it says for Chams and ALL tree-dwelling reptiles. Ah no I don't think so. Where do they come up with their info? As Merlin said they are difficult to control heat and humidity. We know though that Chams need this type of enclosure but it's basically like putting a fence around your herp. The humidity of the room is pretty much what the humidity of the enclosure will be. Unless it's constantly misted as required with Chams. But even then Chams have to be showered regularly to maintain water hydration. I've seen people use these with water dragons??????Hello.

yes I am one of those stupid people. i have one of these and hate it for my Chinese Water Dragon. i have plexi glass all around the tank and still cant keep the humidity up. no problem with heat though. the only reason I even bought it was because I thought it was something else and I got it online. i was wondering what could be kept in one becuase it will be empty soon and im hoping to maybe sell it or keep it for a different herp. but if they are only good for chams then there is no point in me having it.

Another problem with this enclosure is that a lot of the "Chameleons, and all tree dwelling animals" that are popular in the pet trade are going to need something considerably larger than that enclosure. If you have enclosed the sides in plexi but not the top that is the problem. All your humidity is going out the top. The warm air in the enclosure rises, taking the moisture with it. You could counter this by covering the top as well but leaving openings for the heat an light to go thru.

Actually more like cutting openings for the heating element and the light to sit on. Just drilling holes will not be enough. UVB light does not go thru plexiglass.

if I were to take one side off and put it on the top would it be better or just the same? beacuse I dont have enough money to go and buy more plexi glass. also doesnt plexi glass crack easy when cut? if so how would I prevent that?
