Sliding Glass Doors (also on herp habitats)

Hey all, I haven't been around much lately because thanks to some @$$hole breaking into my apartment and me walking in on it and being assaulted, my boyfriend and I had to make an emergency move. Things have been pretty hectic... Unfortunately the new apartment isn't as big as the old one so we had to do away with some furniture. It was even bad enough that I had to decide on either the frog set-up or the Dragon tank, there is no way to fit both in. So because my sister has the same setup at her place for the frogs we decided they could visit over there until we could come up with a solution. What I am gonna do is kinda like a stackable setup. I'm gonna do 3 different sections. One being for the frogs, one for the dragons, and one as a storage cabinet. I think I have most of the stuff worked out but was kinda wanting to put glass doors on the front that slide side to side to open. Anyone know how I can do this without the gap between the doors? or at least to prevent the crickets or even the gecko from escaping this way? any help would greatly be appreciated!

and yes I will show pics when its all done!

I'm so sorry to hear that you were robbed and attacked! I'm glad you are OK. Would a gasket or something help? Like from the insulation department of the hardware store -- weatherstripping, I guess is what I mean?

Or a door that folds in half along its horizontal axis instead of sliding? You can make that from two pieces of glass joined by a special rubber strip (which you might be able to get from an aquarium supply place) or a hinge. Here's a site that sells such things: http://www.jmkdisplays.com/hinge.html (they also sell clear acrylic piano hinges).

Here's a place that sells locks, tracks, etc. for sliding glass display case doors: http://www.woodworker.com/cgi-bin/se...xe?CTLFIND=103

Or maybe you could buy some of these (http://www.herpsupplies.com/product.cfm?id=02029024) and silicone the bottom part of it in, in a vertical position, then install a latch at the top edge and some weatherstripping or a bead of clear silicone around the edges of the moveable panel (not to stick it down, but to overlap a bit and make an escape-proof edge).

Good luck!
