I can't follow that last link, but thank you very much for posting those instructions. It seems simple. I hope it is. I think I'll try it, maybe. (I'm not as handy as I'd like to be, but I can usually get things done.)

If not, maybe you could post a link to your video. I'd love to see your mister in action. Especially if it really does create a finer mist.
That's a pretty good idea, building the misters, then selling them. If you built it for $30, and sold it for $60, it would still be a good deal.
When I give it a shot, I'll let you know how it turns out - if it's successful. Heh.

I know this post is older, but I thought I'd jump in and thank RedFox for the idea. I've been toying with how I'm going to get the humidity right in my Ig's enclosure for a long while. Lately the humidifier has been doing the trick but I've always wanted the misting. I haven't put anything together yet - just kind of dry fit things as a proof of concept. I'm actually quite impressed with how well this thing works.
The pump I used was purchased locally at Murrays, but is also available at AutoZone. $10.59 for a Roberk P50 Universal Washer Pump. I used 1/4" rigid tubing (snipped a piece from our reverse osmosis setup) and attached it to a spray bottle head. I have never seen any of the professional misting systems in person, however the mist that this creates is a heck of a lot finer than I anticipated, and will serve its purpose well. The mister cost a whole $1 from the Dollar Store. I also found that the pump I have draws more current than others. I had a 120VAC to 12VDC @ 800mA transformer hooked to it, and it barely gave me a trickle, but when I switched it for a 12VDC @ 2A supply, it really did the trick.
I have to take some time and mount it to a board and setup a shelf for the water reservoir but after that I think it should be good to go. I am going to attempt to run two nozzles from it, but how things are setup, one will suffice.
I'm back from school this weekend, and she's up at school (we have our own house, her enclosure is up there and my brother's feeding/watering her this weekend) but I should be installing this system on Sunday or Monday and will definitely take some photos and some video of it in operation. If I have time tomorrow I'll snap some photos and video of the proof of concept running.
The problem of an expensive timer still exists, so for the time being it will be manually controlled. The pump also cautions running it for anything longer than 5 seconds at a time, so that may be a consideration in purchasing a "cheap" pump.
Again, a huge thank you. The system I had priced out for the enclosure was more than $300, not including shipping and didn't include the timer. While this isnt as feature rich as the system I was looking at - it will do the job, and with the timer, be less than $100.
