Brainstorming...

I am starting some plans for a mulit-level enclosure and need some input from you seasoned veterans out there.

I want it to be strong, yet lightweight. My first thought is to build the frame out of 1x1s and put paneling on the sides and back, with framed window doors up front. Of course, all of this would be caulked and waterproofed with paint or varnish. I am still working on the flooring – perhaps running some support beams across the frame and again, using paneling.

Any other ideas, or scrutiny for this idea? I have no pride in this idea, just brain storming so if it doesn’t sound good then let me “have it” LOL…

Thanks!

Oh yeah, I would like to stay under $150… Dimension wise, probably 4x2x2 per level, with 4x2x3 for my Black Rat.

Just make sure to avoid corners and cracks, i have some 90 degree corners in my skink cage and I regret it, it is currently being redesigned!

if you use the pvc and cut it longer than the actual width and cut a saw width down it without cutting the ends you eleminate hard corners cause they would actually be inside the tubing

90 deg. corners as in aquarium type corners? Is this a bad thing? I may be misunderstanding here about box construction...

90 degree corners give areas for the reptile to climb right to the top my frogs do it all the time

Most tanks have them...this is for snakes right? there wont be much of a problem. If you plan on stacking them up. If your worried about stuff getting stuck in the corners. Bondo the corner so its rounded and then paint and seal it.

Yeah all i'm saying is that the 90 degree angle makes for a spot for feces or what not to get stuck. Sealing and rounding it out will help.
