Ladder?

Ok Sean is going to get his own room within a few weeks (have to the 21 year old to finish moving out). We will be moving the iggy cage to Sean's room, as he now will have the room to himself and his herps. His room will be 10' x 20'. The iggy loves to climb and I thought that he might like to have access to the top of his cage (top size 2' x 6') where he could look out the window. The problem is want can we use that he can climb up and down on? Suggestions please.

just build a ladder or ramp, its pretty simple, just use a board of some sort that he can get traction on (screw some wood foot holds on it or wrap it in carpet, the kind without loops of course)

Or just take the board, wrap it with grass rope and secure the loops. Good traction for either up or down

There's lots of products for cats to climb on that would work.

Cat trees are so expensive! I was thinking about converting Dizzy to be a free roamer when I move out because his cage is going to be a real pain to move and I thought "hmmmm i'll just buy him a nice cat tree and convert it for iguana use" then I got to pricing them out. No thanks! I'll just build something more iguana friendly instead for half the cost.

That's true they are pretty pricey. I don't think you'd want a used one either.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have plans for a cat climber somewhere but I think a branch with something to grip might work.

I love that, it's great, I'm almost tempted to come and climb on it myself
Colleen, be sure to post pics when you make your new set up!

One thing Ive done with the ramps and such is take a skillsaw or sawzall and cut 1/8" grooves everycouple of inches or so...the deeper the better so the wood doesnt splinter, and then hand sand it real smooth...

I love the rope idea Lothar!
