Help With Cage
Ok guys. i'm in my last final stages of building my cage. it measures 4 foot wide, 6 feet, 7 inches tall and 2.5 inches deep. this is direct form teh "ultimate green iguana owners manual " book that everyone reffers to. ti's the huge one w/ the author and his iguana on the front.
anywhoo. my question is that as I was completeing my building, i painted all the panels. got all the walls ready, but noticed huge amounts of termintes. i think it might be termite season.
i was wondering if using termite spray around teh walls. ( i wrapped the walls in a bag adn sprayed the bag so that it evaporated around the bag.) i wanted to know if it will be safe to use for my iguana. those termites will really destroy eveyrthing and was wondering what the acceptable time frame woudl be before I put my iggy in there.
thanks guys.

Welcome to HCN. If the termites have already nested and started working on the wood, I dont know that it would be stable. More ig owners will be along to answer, sorry couldnt be more helpful.

thanks for the welcome. i already did spray the panels. not the panels direct, but around. this spray is meant for small pests such as spiders, termites and such, i tried not to use ti but my father insisted. i'm gogin to be so upset if this cage cannot hold this iggy. i've been workign on it for so long. w/ all the money i've invested. i was thinking that if I leave it to just air out long enough it shoudl be good. i highly doubt it will hurt the iggy but I just wanted to double check.

you guys are acctually awsome, i didnt' expect an answr so quickly. howver, the termites haven't nested. this cage is built to last. once i'm done, i think I will upload a few pics. it's huge, double wall insulation, sandwiched by two masonite sheets, ti's an awsome cage. If you are familiar w/ that green iguana book. he lists insruction right on there, that is where I got it from.

Pics would be good Try airing it out for a while, and if you can still smell the spray stuff I dont reccomend putting the iggy in it

i thikn that woudl be my best approach. poor iggy. this cage is goign to be very nice. so far, the bill is at 400 dollars. it's a double wall insulated. thats not including electrical. but m y main concern is that this spray will not hurt my iggy. after that. i got other problems such as which electrical to use.
thanks guys so much. this seems like an awsome forum board. it's hard to find some good forums on iguanas, but I think I found a great spot here.

If you can smell the spray then it could potenetially hurt the iguana. Let it air until it no longer gives off a smell, and you might also rise them off with a damp cloth too to make sure there is no residue.
