Did the termites come in with the wood or where are they coming from. usually when you see termites its because theircurrent nest is overcrowded and a new queen is taking part of them to start a new colony. If the termites are appearing from inside the cage they are already nesting in there.
What type of spray are you using (brand name) is it rated for use inside the house and use around pets?
You are going to really have to be careful with this.

I'd recommend washing the walls and sides of the cage on the inside where your iggy will be, just in case of any residue. Also you can use a dust called diatomaceous earth(it kills ants and crawling insects) its safe to use around people, kids, and animals except insects and arachnids...it kills them! You can find it usually at a good quality garden store. Hope this helps! It works on all sorts of insects-even mites & head lice! I know from experience-unfortunately!

no, i didn't spray it in teh cage. i'm not fully completed yet. the stuff is very strong and they advice that it be used for cracks and crevices. i didn't spray it direct on the walls, but aroudn it, inside it's bag. i'm going to let it sit out for a few days to let it completely air out.
the wood is fresh buti can see the termites trying to get into it because of some holes I made while aligning the masonite sheets. but they also might be inside the rigid foam which i'm very scared about because that coudl cause real problems. thats what lead me to fumigate the walls w/ this spray.

If you use diatomaceous earth, be really careful! It's not what I'd call "safe," exactly, in that the dust (and what it is is incredibly fine dust, composed of the razor-sharp but microscopic skeletons of diatoms -- one-celled organisms) can really damage eyes and respiratory tracts, as I understand it. If you avoid contact with those, it's fine, I think, but I wouldn't treat it as totally harmless. (But I agree that it's great stuff for pest control witho chemicals -- don't get me wrong.)
