Winter Housing For Iguana

In case I don’t find a home for the school iggy, what would the possibility of housing him in the basement when it get colder. This is not a heated/finished basement, but the room that has the furnace stays around the mid 60’s in the winter (of course he would have lighting & heat). You are comfortable going downstairs in a t-shirt. During the fall and winter it stays quite dry. When I raised rabbits and guinea pig I housed them in the basement year round.

I would not house an Ig in an unheated basement. Even using heating/lighting for the enclosure you would risk temps going too low. This is my own opinion, maybe others here have done so with no problems that could advise you.

best of luck.

As long as the enclosure is, well, enclosed you should be ok. An open sided cage will not work. Even with the ig sitting under a heat source it will still be breathing cold air.
