The gold dust day gecko (Phelsuma laticauda laticauda) is the primary subspecies of the broad-tailed day gecko (Phelsuma laticauda). Being day geckos, they're diurnal, and require UVB lighting. A large one will still be only 5 inches long. A 10 gallon can house one, a 20 can house two. The males of this species are territorial, so if you get two, I'd get two females or a pair.
The setup should be like any other small tropical arboreal lizard. You can look at an anole's cage to get a good idea. Top soil, cypress mulch, Bed-A-Beast, etc are good substrates. Be sure to have a heavily planted enclosure, whether you use live or fake plants. A temperature gradient of about 75-88 degrees is good, with night temps falling to 70-78 degrees. I've seen humidity requirements for these geckos mentioned at being anywhere from 50% to 85%, but since they're tropical, I'd find somewhere in between there, about 75% or so. These geckos are primarily insectivorous, and require the usual variety, with a staple of crickets and proper supplements. Being day geckos, they should also get a small amount of fruit baby food, and will also enjoy an occasional treat of honey. These are substitutes for the occasional fruit juice and sap they'd eat in the wild. Oh. and ne sure you're talking about the gold dust day gecko, and not a golden gecko, which is very different.
