Under the bed: Where every stray hair in the house goes to create a dust creature, which, once struck by lightning, is, indeed, the monster under your child's bed. He only becomes the boogeyman after kleenex are added to the mix.

If he has a thermostat attached to the tape then he should be able to adjust the output of the heat tape. Also once the substrate of soil and sand is removed, it will likely raise the floor temp.

He's cleaning it out right now. He says it's automatic, but I'll stick around to check it (not sure if that part was set up by the pet shop guys or not). Thanks for the help.

After letting the tile sit in the tank for a few hours, the ambient temp is now at 74 and the basking spot is at 91. The thermostat is actually automatic, which is good. He reports that the geckos are more active than he's seen them, and sends his thanks for the help. He wants to go educate the guys at Petco now about proper set up. I encouraged him to join the site for future questions, and we'll see if he does.

Glad to hear, I love how the tiles hold the heat when heated and stay cool where they are not. Sounds like the temps are perfect now.

I love slate, and so do all of my herps... except my darned water dragon. >.< He's also getting an AccuRite thermometer/hygrometer tomorrow, so hopefully his setup will be/stay perfect.
