Re: The Rainforest
WAIT. you have a Whites Tree Frog and a crestie in the SAME enclosure??? You need to separate them NOW. That crestie is going to terrorize that poor little frog to death. Literally .

That is what I thought, but he leaves the Whites Tree Frog alone and there isn't even any competition for food when I put crickets in. It is a fairly large enclosure and there is plenty of room and when they do meet they dont even care.I have often seen them sitting right next to each other on the same stick.

Re: The Rainforest
Ok, not only "don't they bother each other" which really means they keep away because they don't like each other, but the presence of the gecko will stress him out. Add to that diseases both of them carry but do not effect them, but can be given to each other. It really isn't a good idea to mix species. Not at all. Reptiles are not social. They would much rather live on their own than with a different herp.
Think of it this way, I'm going to stick you in a bathroom with an aggressive dog, and lock you in, and you can't get out. Its the same idea. They are probably on the same stick because they both want to be in the same place and are merely tolerating each other.

I didnt think of it that way but I will make sure that I monitor every thing the Whites Tree Frog will more than likely be coming out tomorrow. I am kind of a newbie with cresteds and where I purchased it they said it would be fine. I will make sure I remove him from the enclosure promptly.

Rule #1. Don't listen to pet stores. They are usually more interested in selling product (animals) than really caring about proper care. Not to mention half the workers usually don't really know what they are doing them self.
(I know, I had to learn the hard way too)
research research research.
However, if it IS 90 gallons, you could put another crestie in there.

All of the ones that were there were all males descent looking but males. I cant seem to locate a local female. or breeder. I'm pretty sure it is 90 but that is why I removed it and put fairly large because I was looking at an eighty five and it looked very similar.

Re: The Rainforest
On our home page there is a gallon converter. Just plug in the l x h x w and it will give you how many gallons it is.
You said you were in central PA? Where abouts? If you are up to a drive, there is a monthly show at Haver deGrace, MD once a month. Lots of breeders there.
Oh, and for your enclosure, you could use a few more cross branches. There is a ton of wasted space.

I am located in the williamsport area and I know about the wasted space but I'm not quite sure how I want to do it yet but there will definitely be a lot more sticks and taller greenery.

Re: The Rainforest
Also they have totally different temp and humidity requirements! Whites need temps in the high 70's to mid 80's. Crested Geckos need temps in the 60's-to 70's. In fact temps over 80 can be fatal to them. Whites also need more humidity.
