Pictus

Anyone keeping Pictus? Do you have any photos of your setups? I have 5 babies coming in on Tuesday. I'm going to get everything together for them tomorrow so I'm ready.

I've read through care sheets, including the ones here. The consensus seems to be that coco fiber is a great substrate, but I'm thinking because they're babies, that I should keep them on paper towel for now.

Re: Pictus

I have mine on paper towel for now. Have had them since I got them. I used to use a mix of peat moss and sand to keep the humidity up a bit more than normal. I also had some hens and chicks in the tank too.

Make sure you give them several hides. A moist hide is a must for them. I mist mine when I feed them to help with humidity.

Re: Pictus

How many do you have? Are they normals? I'd like to get my hands on a red or xanthic in the future.

Re: Pictus

I've had 2 xanthic. Reds I've not really seen. I had one that was kinda of a snow, but not really. The 2 I have now are normals. They also seem to be laying eggs which I keep missing.

Re: Pictus

I don't know what to do. I got the pictus and the crested. I had no idea the crested would LITERALLY be a hatchling. The crested will be fine...

BUT...the baby pictus are.....SMALLER THAN THE HATCHLING. There's no way I was prepared with food for them. I thought they would be able to eat small crickets, but these will be WAY TOO big for them. I'm going to have to order pinheads for the first time online.

I don't know how I could possibly feed them. Fruit flys?

ARGH

Re: Pictus

This is one of them next to a quarter. I emailed the breeder and said that he should've given me a heads up, and he told me that they could eat 1/4 crickets... ARGH.
