Re: Gekko Vittatus (aka White-Lined or Skunk)
I usually hand feed them still (they like the attention of "food mama"). The last time they were fed, she spit out her food during the night and was dead by morning. They have always enjoyed hand feeding, and do not eat much on their own. i.e. last night was tiny pinkie night for Vash and Millie, and they each ate 2 like normal. Care sheet wise there is not a lot available. Most of what we have found has them feeding on the normal cricket, crested gecko food, and the occasional pinkie mouse with some greens and fruit to munch in their cage. One care sheet says to treat them as you would a crested, and another says treat them as you would a tokay. They kind of make the sounds that a tokay does. My daughter loves them because of their skiny tails and cool white markings. She does not like fat-tailed geckoes like the leopard geckoes. Due to how she died, we didn't have enough time to get her to a vet, as we did not know until the next day that the food had been spit out, and weren't sure who did it until we found her body. I know you have read a lot of postings by me and know how spoiled my animals are. Even the Tegu prefers me to hand feed her mice to her, although not the canned Tegu food. The iguana prefers my daughter to sit with her and hand feed her her greens and veggies (I guess they feel special that way). :-)
