Re: Dull Day Gecko

If what can be found online is acurate,
they get about 6" long.
Dinural, do better housed in pairs, mostly insectivorius, but may eat small amounts of fruit, or more likely the nectar from fruit.
There supposed to be rather hardy, like most geckoes with adhesive setae, handling should probaly be kept to a minimum.

Going by that i'd say you could probaly house one in a 20 high, or a pair in a 29 gallon tank, though i'm sure they'd love any extra space.

Re: Dull Day Gecko

Like I said I would have info later today..

P. dubia get a medium size of 6 inches. They are one of the more hardy day geckos. They don't have a outstanding color like a P. m. grandis or a P. klemmeri. P. dubia are great starter day geckos. You can keep a pair in a 20 gallon. Its good idea that the cage is taller than longer. 1.5 high to 1 wide. P. dubia require a sub-tropical enclosure. I highly recommend this book ; Day Geckos in Captivity, By Leann and Greg Christenson.

This section is from Day Gecko in Captivity, By Leann and Greg Christenson. Page 29
Quote:
Sub Tropical:This enclosure should also be well planted with tropical plants. Set up multiple slanting and horizontal climbing areas using bamboo, branches, or cork bark strips. Establish a horizontal basking spot with temperatures ranging from 90 to 93 F. Daytime temperatures for the vivarium should be in the mid 80s. Night time temperatures should drop to the high 60s or low 70s. Substrate can be a perlite-free soil and orchid bark mixture. Humidity levels should be 60% to 75%
This is a link to their website care sheet for Phelsuma.
GGA Phelsuma Sp.

There are several views on the use of UV with a day gecko. Some use it some don't. The book will explain it in more detail. You can use special lights with more color output to make their colors stand out or a UV light works just as well. I highly recommend this book if you are getting Day geckos.
