Finished My Geckos' New Enclosure
Tonight when I got home from work I finished putting together my White Spoted Wall Geckos' Tank. He was in a 10 gallon tank, which I had a ten gallon tank topper on, however the wire tank topper was not keeping enough heat in, and he could not climb on it. I purchased a 20 gallon high tank, and tonight I set it up and moved him into it. I don't have any pictures of his tank beforehand, but its a signifigant upgrade.
On the new enclosure theres 3 hides throughout the tank, not to mention driftwood and branches that make a nice dense area to climb around and hide in. One side of the tank is raised with a terrace (i used a divider you would use for turtles to have a land and a water section), I even have a dripper set up to drip water onto one of the pieces of wood, and then drip down into his water dish. No live plants, but I have some dried grass put in places to add a bit more color, and behind the terrace under a layer of coco bedding ive filled in organic potting soil, so once I find a small plant that would do okay in his environment I may plant one there. (any ideas?) Right now the nocturnal light is on, and I don't really want to stress him out any more than the move by turning a bright light on him (i have a daylight bulb and a black nightlight bulb on the tank on timers) Hopefully sometime tommorow i'll be able to get some pictures posted up, though if I do the'll be from a cell phone camera, so not the best pictures anyway. we'll see.

Re: Finished My Geckos' New Enclosure
By "dry grass" do you mean just grass out of the yard? If so this needs to go. In any sort of dampness it will mold.
Is this a desert type set up or more humid. I am not familair with the species.

![]() Boiling the needles will not remove the toxic resins. Ever tried to wash pine sap off your hands? It takes something like paint thinner!

Re: Finished My Geckos' New Enclosure
pothos is always a good choice, especially if it can drape down from a tier. Its really strong and is pretty hard to kill in that type of environment. In fact it would thrive as long as it gets a decent amount of light.

Re: Finished My Geckos' New Enclosure
It's actualy a rather dry environment, these guys originated in sub-saharan africa. humidity stays around 40% or less, with a moist hide. As for the dry grass, no, who knows whats been used out there, its the kind of grass you'd buy dried already somewhere, like a craft store. It was in his tank already when he was in the ten, i just moved it over. I won't be able to post pictures today, i have to get going for a little weekend trip down to SC, but when I get back I should have some up. Along with pictures of the little guy hopefully (who's just loving all the added climbing space)

Re: Finished My Geckos' New Enclosure
Looks really good!! Brings Matilda's cage to shame...but she doesn't need climbing stuff, so I guess it's different. All of the tanks with climbing stuff in them look so much cooler!
