Gecko? Hitched a Ride from Anguilla!

Does anyone know what this is and how we can take care of it?
We found it in our suitcase while unpacking from a trip to Anguilla.
We got back to CT on Monday night and found it Tues since then
it has lived in a coke bottle with lettuce and water and bread. It has pooped a couple of times and it still jumps and crawls, but I want to make sure we are
taking care of it correctly. Today we moved it into a large container with shells, sand etc. but are not sure what to feed it (in case the lettuce is not right).
I've been googling all over the place and it kind of looks like a dwarf gecko to me, but it could just be a baby something... I have no clue.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you soooo much in advance.

While I don't know what type of gecko that is, I have yet to read about any that were herbivores. I would suggest you get some crickets for this guy and see how he reacts. I speculate that he will go after them pretty quickly if he hasn't eaten in a few days.

Thanks Rich. He is really tiny though... a regular size cricket could eat this gecko! Any other ideas on what he could eat? Are there mini crickets?

Yes, there are pinheads. You could also try wingless fruitflies. Petco sells them. He is about the size of a baby leo from the pics (maybe a little smaller) and they take the small crickets with no issues. I would give those a whirl. If they don't work, go with the flies.

Thanks again. I'll head to petco or petsmart tomorrow. I am pretty sure he has not eaten since Sunday!

Yeah, I caught a house gecko that looked exactly like that. Bigger, but exactly like that. We fed it small crickets, but there are the pinheads...and i'm sure that it would be happy with those. Try and hurry and feed it though, I looked into it and they're supposed to eat daily almost. He's really pretty though...goodluck and keep us posted

Since Angullia is tropical I would get him set up in a tropical cage, he'll need a good water source, lots of hiding places and you should mist the tank with water a couple of times a day.

Also it should be kept warm, you want to replicate it's natural habitat as closely as you can.

Re: Gecko? Hitched a Ride from Anguilla!

Oh yeah, they're always in my house (i live in Florida) i'm almost certain it's a house gecko. Or mediterranean gecko (same thing). Yeah, Ryan and I kept some for a little while and we just made sure they had a lot of water and leaves and hiding spots. They really like to be up high in hiding spots, so try and do something like that, maybe a high tank with some leaves or flaps to hide behind. Keep us updated
