My new Dwarf Cape and Yellow Head geckos

I was at the reptile show (got me a chinese water dragon and an Emerald Swift too!) and I came across these really cute, tiny lizards. I ended up getting a male and female of each type. I talked to the vendor for about 20 minutes about thier care, habitat, temperatures, diet, substrate, etc.

I was hoping someone could tell me a little something about them in order to either verify or debunk what that guy told me. Of particular importance, do they burrow? I have them on bark right now. Heres a few pics of them and their setup.

In order left to right is my male cape, female cape (98% sure) yellow head (not sure if male or female; too dark in the pic) and their house. Its a 10 gallon with bark, a screen top, a non-uvb fluoro, schefflera, pencil plant cactus, wood, and some pothos vines. I mist them two or three times a day keeping the humidity fairly high and giving them the chance to drink. I feed them ~1/4" crickets.

So, should they be on sand, need UVB, lower humidity, etc.. Any help is appreciated. IF you cant help, then just look at these little cuties! Theyre only about two inches long.

Re: My new Dwarf Cape and Yellow Head geckos

cape dwarf geckos!!! Lygodactylus capensis... haha I have them running all around my garden...umm I use them as feeders tho for new born horned adders...sorry for that info but...

they are real cool little geckos and are diurnal...they are never on the ground though. They are real fast and hard to catch... all live on my wooden pole fence here at home. they also like to bask alot...

when I have some time will write out a care sheet for them if there is not one around... will just give the conditions that are outside in my garden. I would give them alot of to climb and run around on.... would also keep males separate if you ever get more than one. they seem to be territorial... i also doubt you would need uvb tho...they do bask but I don't think it is needed...just make sure they are getting dusted prey items

Thanks, caudalis.. A font of knowledge as usual. What are the temps in your area, please?

I will likely disassemble the 10 gal theyre in now so I can use the frame from the top and bottom and Im going to build a glass enclosure thats the dimensions wide and deep, but make it 24" tall. So approx 12x10x24"?

Re: My new Dwarf Cape and Yellow Head geckos

These are arboreal and diurnal species, so a soil-simulating substrate is best (bark, mulch, etc). Of course plenty of plants will be needed. Like with day geckos, it's recommended to provide a UVB light, since they are diurnal and will bask. They can also be offered fruit baby food on occasion, to supplement their regular diet of insects.
