yesterday I went to the local pet store and was looking for some stuff for my trip back home for cheyane (my iggy), any who I found my self all gooey eyed look'n at the fat tailed geckos, so I was going to buy one when a lady at the store who was shopping pulled me a side and said that she is a breeder and not to buy any animals from there and that she would sell me a proven breeding pair for $85.00 (is this a good price?????????? ), here is the scoop on the reps they are rainwater morphs, they have provided 2 healthy sets of babies and boy are they fat and well socialized they seem to love to be held and rubbed (little weird though 2 of the last babies were patternless) any way you all know I am moving in like a week or so do you think I should purchase these guys or should wait for my move and find a breeder in michigan?

$85 is around £45 right? In which case, over here that's a very good price! On the other hand, if you're about to move it may be better to get them afterwards, as it will be more stressful on them to get them settled into a new environment and then disrupt them again to move them to your new place. Are you moving far? Sorry, i have no concept of distance in the US!

That is a pretty good deal. If you really really want them, you could buy right before you leave, then get their new enviroment set up immediately when you arrive back in Michigan. Just a few things to consider.

I would be suspicious of anyone that approached me in a pet shop with the "PSSST! Wanna buy a gecko?" routine.
They may be exactly what she says they are and everything be on the up an up.

OR

They could be an old worn out breeder pair that no longer produces and she is trying to dump them.

Just be careful.

I have shipped last year in Jan. and didn't have a problem. But I think I have found your answer. Mid Michigan Reptile Rescue has a couple of fat tails.
