She laid an egg...I think...now what?
We just got an AFT about a week ago. She was kinda chunky and wasn't really interested in eating. Now, my fiance and I went out today and came home and there's an egg laying in her cage. So, I got online and read up on it and found out what I could. So, what do I do now? Is it possible for her to lay an unfertilized egg...with no baby in it? How long before it hatches? Help me, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the breeding section for a leopard gecko, which is the same for Fat Tailed. She may not have been with a male with you, but geckos can retain sperm for months, its possible she was breed before you got her.

It's normal for lizards to lay eggs without being mated, and of course, as Marsha said, she may have mated before coming to you. It's usually fairly easy to tell the difference between fertile and infertile eggs - fertile will be more solid, a good shape and white or have a pink tinge. Infertile will be softer, perhaps yellow in colour and be smaller and sometimes caved in. If you are able to set up an incubator it may be a good idea to incubate the egg for some time just in case, as if it's fertile you don't just want to get rid of it. Hope this helps. Keep us updated.
Oh, I forgot to mention - make sure you increase the calcium intake for the gecko - even producing infertile eggs takes a lot out of the mother and she needs to be able to put her weight and nutrients back on.
