I dunno about that one Mike. I've seen a lot of marbled geckos and had one a long time ago. That ain't no marbled. As for the scientific name of the marbled, that's a tricky one. Its not a wall gecko. I've seen them classed as Gekko marmoratus and as Gekko grosmanni. However, then Gekko marmoratus became Christinus marmoratus. Whether they are now classed as C. marmoratus or G. grosmanni, I don't know. I was trying to find a pic of one, so here's 2 links that show marbled geckos under both scientific names. Although both geckos are different colors, they are the same species. Marbled geckos are native to Australia.
http://www.herpafauna.com/pics/geckos/gek-grossm.html http://www.kingsnake.com/oz/lizards/...armoratus.html I guess at first glance they do look sorta similar. However, marbled geckos have very fine, smooth, fdelicate skin and a smooth tail. All of the wall geckos, to include this unknown one, have the typical spiney tail and rough, bumpy skin. Marbled geckos also get slightly bigger than Tarentola species.

The link won't work for me. Strophurus ciliaris ciliaris is the norther spiney-tail. I dunno about that one either though. The scales still aren't a match. The gecko in question is unlike any Australian geckos, to include the Strophorus. Another problem is that it doesn't quite look much like a spiney-tail, and spiney-tails are both very rare and VERY expensive. I'd be willing to bet a couple hundred bucks its a Tarentola, and I'm pretty sure the species is Tarentola delalandii. It's identical, right down to the tiniest detail in the scales, to the tiniest detail in the eyes. I've dealt a lot with various Tarentola species, and have a Tarentola annularis myself. No doubt in my mind. The gecko is Tarentola. Here's some links that have pics and info on spiney-tails though:

Furryscaly...you need to id my gex
Hey, furry, it is me, Stacey (greyhoundgirl1977 in other forums!) You need to come to my house and ID these 3 geckos I have. They are either Bibrons, or Marbled, or spiny tailed, or wall geckos. I have looked and looked at pics till I am about to go blind...they seem to have traits of all of them, ugh. Sometimes rescue is a problematic thing...I want everything ID'd right, so I know just how to help it. These 3 are messing with me though, but they are doing good, we are treating them as Bibron's right now, because that is what they resemble the most. I will try to get pics for you....if I can find them...they are flighty. And yikes...they bite!!!! Wow they are mean, but I guess if I had not eaten in a month...I would bite the first thing I saw too. See ya, I will try some pics with a better camera soon.

hehe yeh, it doesn't reallt look that much like a Northern Spiny-tailed Gecko, Thanks for trying to help though! He (or she) has been eating quiet a few mealworms and crickets, and drinking fine, but it is SO fast, I'm going to have to clean the cage soon, not sure how I'm going to...

Hey! Glad you found the HC! Yeah, if your gex look that similar to so many different species, a picture will definately be needed before they can be IDed.
